*A New York woman hired to be nanny to a 2-year-old boy has been arrested and?charged with assault, endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon after a Nanny-cam caught her using a hot curling iron to punish the child.
At first 21-year-old?Nosipho Nxumalo told a judge she was not guilty after?the child, Alexander Persaud, told his mom that the woman burned him.
But then the boy’s mother, Angela Persaud, checked the Nanny cam they had placed in the child’s bedroom.
Nxumalo was arrested.
In the WGN-TV video below you could see the child flinching as the nanny burned his feet and hands.
?She pulled out the curling iron several times. She heated it up,? Persaud told the station. ?You see her showing him that it?s going to be hot, and, ?I?m going to use it on you.? You see her yelling at him. You see her grab him a few times.? Continue reading →
*Ah, the dreaded job interview. Nail biting time for some folks, while others, like me (blame it on a background in theatre) see it as just another audition and welcome the challenge.
Nerves can play you like a fiddle. They can make you do the damndest things. I’ve seen people laugh uncontrollably when they’re nervous, shut down completely, and have anxiety attacks so severe that sound reasoning becomes impossible.
But what you will see coming up takes?the entire cake. They are some of the STRANGEST things that people have done in job interviews. Recognize any of ’em? I don’t know you personally so if you?see yourself?it was quite by accident. No offense. The interviewer?didn’t contact me about you.Continue reading →
*I’m just going to come right out and say it: This video of Jaden Smith troubles me. It’s hard to see any child?depressed, and when a child puts it on something like Youtube, he may clearly be asking for help. Even if he is the son of famous people like Will and Jada Smith, Jaden ?is obviously depressed as he talks about living in a world where there is no support for young people to be themselves. So often people throw such things aside saying things like, “Oh he’s just being a teen. He’ll get over it?”
Didn’t we just see a 12-year-old on Facebook live…venting in a depressed state? You do remember how that played out, right?
At what point do we become concerned? It’s not like I can just pick up the phone and call the Smiths.
*The out-of-control, caught on camera behaviors of many law enforcement officers have civilians wondering if it might be better to just do away with the “service” and let us take our chances with the criminals.? The internet, in unison with widespread cellphone access, has successfully brought what always transpired in the dark into the light, and African American filmmakers are using their skills to put these issues on blast towards a positive solution.

*My eyes are sore from all the tears as we continue to watch the goodbye tributes to President and First Lady Obama, Malia and Sasha across social media platforms.
Recently, Jimmy Fallon had guests tape messages to the FLOTUS. They poured their hearts out while looking at a large picture of her on the wall. Little did they know, she was closer than they thought..
As NewsOne reports, tears began to flow as FLOTUS emerged, sometimes so taken by what was being said, right in the middle of their message.
?For years you have shown our nation countless times that through dignity, compassion and respect we can overcome any hardship,??one woman who burst into tears once she realized the First Lady stood in front of her said. Continue reading →
Maybe “it” is the nerve to be exactly who you are in the face of people who will say all kinds of things about you while you’re doing it. ?Or maybe “it” is simply the ability to rock mascara et al with the best of the ladies. ?I’ve not seen a guy flaunt full-on makeup — without changing gender expression, which is different than gender identity — so well since Boy George of Culture Club fame. ??
Just looking around this coffee shop where I’m parked this morning, Gutierrez is putting everyone up in here — male and female — to absolute shame. ?Continue reading →
