Flat-Earther ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes Seeks To Prove Science Wrong With Home Made Rocket

Human beings have been doing brilliant and foolish things for millennia. As surely as we exist, someone will be doing something that causes us to take pause, scratch our heads, and question the cosmic truth that, somehow, we’re at the top of the evolutionary ladder. The leading species in cognitive ability, self-actualization, and universal consciousness. Heavy lies the crown, as they say. So heavy lieth the crown that, perhaps, the sheer weight has befuddled our wits and caused some to combat scientific facts laid down by human brilliance both past and present.

Enter the flat-earther. Proven false by Copernicus, Galileo, and the likes of astronomers persecuted and killed because of their scientific acumen, they led humanity out of our long-standing celestial ignorance by proving that the earth is round and that it revolves around the sun. But, you learned that in fifth grade.

Meet “Mad” Mike Hughes. Mike believes that the earth is flat and it’s been his mission to prove it to the world. How, you ask? By building his own rocket and launching himself into the atmosphere to see it for himself, triumphantly land, and tell the citizens of our flat earth “I told you so!” About 1.6 million people around the world die in car accidents every year, but the statistics on home-made rocket fatalities is decidedly inconclusive. Concerned scientists and fascinated onlookers assumed that Mad Mike would soon be part of an unfortunately newfound statistic. This didn’t deter him one bit.

You’ve probably gathered that Mad Mike isn’t a scientist, nor an engineer. Just a 61-year-old cosmically curious limousine driver (soon to be rocket pilot). “Do I believe the Earth is shaped like a Frisbee? I believe it is. Do I know for sure? No. That’s why I want to go up in space.” Scientific inquiry breeds discovery, so he went for it. Over 50% of U.S. made products require welding. Mad Mike’s rocket was no exception, having dismantled and repurposed a mobile home, he fashioned a crude metal conglomeration that looks like a rocket. We have to applaud his panache and creative engineering.

He was also angry that people doubted him, so this past Saturday he ripped into the sky at 350 MPH, traveling almost 2,000 feet above the desert before having to pull two parachutes which alighted him not-so-gently to the earth in what NPR, dripping with sarcasm, calls “the exact same gravitational forces that give planets — including Earth — their spherical shape.”

Thankfully, Mad Mike didn’t die. He was a little banged up, but he’s got plans for another launch, the goal of which is to reach 68 miles into the atmosphere, hopefully proving his point. Nevermind surviving those conditions because he claims not to believe in science, but proceeds to use words like aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, and how things move through the air (otherwise known as physics).

All in all, Mike is going to be alright, but he’s definitely taking a break before doing it again: “Am I glad I did it? Yeah. I guess. I’ll feel it in the morning. I won’t be able to get out of bed. At least I can go home and have dinner and see my cats tonight.”

Enjoy it, Mike. Don’t let the doubters dull your shine and keep reaching for the stars.

BMW Nightmare: Man’s $70K Dream Car Severed His Thumb

*Omg. When Godwin Boateng heard about the new self-closing door on the BMW X5, he thought it was pretty cool. Little did he know it would end up being nothing short of a nightmare — after it chopped off his right thumb.

Now the Long Island is suing the manufacturer for unspecified damages.

?I don?t know how you put a price on it; it?s a life-changer,? Boateng, a 61-year-old software engineer from Valley Stream, said. ?I carried my thumb into the hospital, and they said, ?What happened to you???

?I said, ?My car door.? I?m holding my thumb, they took it and put it on ice. The nurse said, ?Maybe the doctor can put it back on.? The doctor came in and looked at it and said, ?I?m sorry.? He said he couldn?t. The way it got severed, it couldn?t be saved.??

In his lawsuit Boateng describes what happened to him on his way to meet a friend for dinner on July 16, 2016. He was leaning on the Black SUV, resting his hand against the door (like pictured above).  Continue reading

Tah-Dah! Dude Built a Homemade Rocket, Blasted Off, and Came Down…in One Piece!

*Just call him the “Rocket Man.” As a matter of fact, I hope he was playing the once popular Elton John tune as he went up, with the smoke trailing behind in his home-made rocket!  Sick and tired of folks claiming, fool, you didn’t make no rocket! “Mad” Mike Hughes, who makes no secret that he believes the earth is flat, showed ’em!

He did build a rocket, and blasted off in it on Saturday.

He made it 1,875 feet into the air….before it came down, Hard. In the Mojave dessert.

But there’s no shame in his game. At least he came down in one piece. The Associated Press captured a photo of him being wheeled to a waiting van by paramedics.

“I’m tired of people saying I chickened out and didn’t build a rocket. I’m tired of that stuff. I manned up and did it,” said “Mad” Mike Hughes to the AP after paramedics gave him clearance.

When asked how he felt after his hard Mojave Dessert landing he said, “Relieved.”

NBC News reports…

The launch took place near Amboy, California, a desert town ? about 200 miles east of Los Angeles. It wasn’t easy scheduling the brave (or crazy, depending on where you’re coming from) attempt. Continue reading

FB CEO Mark Zuckerberg Says: ‘…We Don’t Deserve to Serve You!’ After Recent Details on Data Breach Uncovered

*As hard as it is to  do business successfully without social media, many folks are wishing there was a better way, for this reason…

…Potential data breaches — such as the one in the news today involving Facebook, personal data stolen from its users, Russia and Donald Trump.

According to NBC News, a data analysis firm used by the Trump presidential campaign surreptitiously acquired and used Facebook data on 50 million people

OK, but that’s not the “new details” part. We knew this happened. We knew there had been a breach.

Cambridge Analytical was the company that actually profiled voters for Donald Trump’s campaign. NBC News reports the firm used the private information they lifted from Facebook users’ accounts, to influence and wage a “culture war” during Trump’s 2016 election.

The stolen data also included information from Facebook users? friends and contacts, as well.

What IS new is this: CNN reports new details stem from news that Cambridge Analytica may have kept user’s data even after Facebook told the company to delete it.

Uber Halts Testing of Self-Driving Vehicles After Arizona Pedestrian is Killed (Watch)

*The Uber rideshare service has put a stop to its testing of autonomous vehicles after a woman crossing the street in Arizona was struck and killed by one of its driverless cars.

The car, a Volvo XC90, actually had a safety operator behind the wheel when the collision occurred.

Are you thinking the same thing I’m thinking? If the “safety operator” couldn’t do anything…???

Via a statement on Twitter Uber said: “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this incident.”

The National Transportation Safety Board said in a tweet that it is “sending a team to investigate” the incident.

The ride-share giant had reportedly been testing its autonomous cars all over Arizona — giving rides to a small number of people.  Continue reading

Ain’t No Stopping Us Now: Photo of this Ghanaian Educator Teaching MS Word to Students Via Chalkboard Goes Viral

*Students at Betenase M/A Junior High School in Ghana are required to pass a national exam in order to graduate. The exam includes computer technology. Sounds doable, right?

How so, if they don’t have access to computers?

Enter brilliant and resourceful teacher Richard Appiah Akoto, the students’ 33-year-old information and communications technology (ICT) teacher who is determined to give them the tools they need in order to compete with the likes of students that do have computer access because of the affluent areas where they live.

Akoto posted photos of himself online, writing what looks like extremely detailed code, in multicolored chalk, on a blackboard. Is it no wonder he received a chorus of global applause as a result? Continue reading

Facebook Takes Down Shameful Survey That ‘Suggests’ They’d Consider Allowing Pedophiles to Solicit on the Site

*By now you’ve probably heard that Facebook recently posted a  survey question basically asking people if they would condone pedophilia. They’ve since taken the insulting survey down, but only after a barrage of complaints shamed them into doing so.

The question posed was…

?In thinking about an ideal world where you could set Facebook?s policies, how would you handle the following: a private message in which an adult man asks a 14-year-old girl for sexual pictures.?

An “ideal world” would be one where pedophilia is an option on FB? WTF were they thinking?

The poll reportedly surfaced over the weekend at the top of Facebook’s homepage. It was spotted by Jonathan Haynes, an editor for The Guardian; who took a screenshot of it (scroll down), as well as his responses to the sick question. Continue reading

Think We Can ‘Go Anywhere?’ Think Again…Here’s 20 Places You’ll Probably Never See

ROOM 39: Room 39 is said to be an area where nefarious crimes are committed like drug manufacturing, counterfeiting of U.S. currency and financial fraud. This place is located in the Workers party building in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. North Korea in itself is one of the most highly restricted areas in the world so it is obvious why this place is on the list.

*America! The land of the brave, and the home of the free. If that cliche is ass backwards, its because its a damn lie! Ha! “Free” people are supposed to be able to go anywhere. Have access to everything…within reason, I guess.

But we can’t go anywhere. There are a lot of places we may have heard of, but will never have access to…no matter how much money we have. Why?

Just because…(some answers are that simple).

Here’s 20 places on earth we will never have access to…no matter how much money we have!

Dream on baby, if you ever think you’ll step foot into this restricted area!

Sitting tight at No.20- Google’s Datacenter

Google eRuns the internet and its Data Center is as guarded as Area 51 is. It is a high-security location that contains trillions of records of OUR data.

You cannot access it, ever!

Next up, at No.19, is Snake Island

And why, I ask you, would anyone want to visit a place with this name? Snake Island is a small Island located off the coast of Brazil and contains 4,000 of the DEADLIEST snakes on the planet. Their venom is so powerful that it can MELT human flesh.

The Island has been deemed so dangerous that the Brazilian Government banned visitors from accessing it.

Wonder what had to happen in order to put this ban in place!

…which brings us to No.18: The Coca-Cola Vault Continue reading
