*Dang, it’s the holiday season when folks look forward to getting their grub on when they visit friends and family. That means the last thing anyone wants to worry about is getting sick or even dying from food poisoning.
Unfortunately that’s the risk and reality we’re faced with as we’ve learned that food items such as salads, taquitos, tikka masala and more ready-to-eat food in your frig or freezer from McCain Foods could be part of a massive food recall.
Lord have mercy! This story is a real stomach turner. That is unless you’re into eating rats.

The number of men who don’t shave at all has increased across all age groups and stands at approximately 20% of all men. Though a lot of these men aren’t shaving because they are, for lack of a better term … lazy, there are plenty of men who pride themselves on their facial hair prowess.
Some of these bearded folk can even use their powers for good, directly benefiting charities.
If you can pull out some old British newspapers, then you?ll find that an article from 1893 proclaimed Sarah Farro as the 1st Negro Novelist for her publication called ?True Love.? Well, they didn?t have their facts right about her being the first, but they did well in recognizing the phenomenal kick-starter for African American literature.
Farro was born in Illinois in 1859 and her parents had moved from the South to settle in Chicago. In the census of 1880, her two sisters and her family were given the ?Black? status. One reason why her one and only publication had disappeared from records was that she wrote about white people.
Her novel had been published by a well-known publishing house at the time and it was exhibited at the World?s Columbian Exhibition. Her work was among the work of 58 others which constituted of women only. She had even been recognized as an outstanding pioneer for her race in Chicago!
*Have you ever wondered what kind of conditions African Americans had to endure at the start and end of the Civil War?
Did D.C. follow the lead of other states or was it the first to shift from the attitude of Emancipation? What were the ripple effects of the Reconstruction Era? All of these questions will be answered if you read on.
The Reconstruction Era of Washington D.C. had 2 transformations that have been known to be quite long-lasting. The transformations were the exponential growth of the city and the end of slavery. The Congress was being constantly told by the Abolitionists to stop slavery ? especially in D.C.
Congress, on the other hand, was dominated by interests of holding on to slavery and hence wouldn?t shift from their current stand.
*At the 2015 MTV/Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus and Snoop Dogg appeared together in a pre-taped segment where Miley introduced her grandmother as her ?real mammy.’ While she was sharing the term of endearment she uses for her white grandmother, her usage of the term had serious racial implications.
Mammy is a term that is inseparable from the painful past of the Black Community ? the era when enslavement was legal and protected by law.
This incident started a huge backlash on Twitter in which many including Chance the Rapper shared their disappointment. He posted a picture of actress Hattie McDaniel from Gone with the Wind, in which she played the role of a slave housemaid and was called mammy.
*After a photo of a father having to change his baby son’s diaper while squatting went viral, it prompted a call for men’s public restrooms to require changing tables, just like the women’s restrooms.
?This is a serious post!!! What?s the deal with not having changing tables in men?s bathroom as if we don?t exist!!? Donte Palmer, a high school teacher in Jacksonville, Fla., captioned an Instagram photo of him changing his son?s diaper in a restaurant bathroom. ?Clearly, we do this often because look how comfortable my son is. It?s routine to him!!!! Let?s fix this problem!? Palmer also called on activist and football quarterback Colin Kaepernick to ?drop a knee to this issue!?
After The Shade Room published the photo, it got more than 400,000 likes.
Palmer, 31, told Yahoo Lifestyle that the September 15th image reflects his daily routine with his three boys, ages 12, 7, and 1.
