Black Men Arrested at Starbucks Prove You Can Use Any Platform to Turn a Negative into a Positive

*By now everyone has heard the story about the two brothers led out of a Philadelphia Starbucks in the prestigious Rittenhouse Square neighborhood in handcuffs after the white female manager called the police on them. The men were waiting for a business associate. They were going to speak on real estate. The manager got frustrated because she said the men would not buy anything and refused to leave.

A furor over the incident quickly ensued. People in the restaurant, white, Black and other, were seen recording the incident with cellphones and asking police, “But what did they do?”

Starbucks CEO, Kevin Johnson, even issued an apology and the manager was let go.

These two men who spent several hours in a jail cell were eventually released with no charges filed.  Johnson dropped everything and came to Philly to personally apologize to the men. But by now  the momentum for a greater movement had started; and if Starbucks and the police thought this would be the end of it…

…They thought wrong.

Rashon Nelson, being led out of Starbucks in handcuffs,  said he considers this a case of being at “the wrong place at the right time because of the outcome that can come out of it.”

Watch: Black Man’s Coupon Denied By Restaurant, Yet Same Coupon By White Roommate is Accepted

Link Alexander

*Link Alexander walked into a Rocky Mount North Carolina restaurant with a coupon that guaranteed him a free meal. But he was met with a suspicious eye from an employee.

After he explained, Alexander was told the coupon offering “one free buffet” was no good because it didn’t have signatures from the restaurant managers.

?He looks at the card. He looks at me. He was like, ?So where did you get the card from?’? Alexander said. ?It has to be signed by my manager, or my [district manager], and this is neither one of their signatures,? Alexander said the assistant manager told him.

Dejected, he left empty-handed. But that wasn’t the end of it.

When he got home, he relayed the experience to his roommate, a white dude named Rex Sterling; who immediately went into action.

?I took his coupon, the same one they rejected 2 hours earlier, and went to the same Pizza Inn myself to see if my experience would be any different and also to confront the manager and ask for answers,? Sterling said in his Facebook post.

His experience was different. Continue reading

Hey, we’re all about being original, but one high school jackass took it to a whole ‘nother level when he decided to offer what’s been coined a “promposal” via a huge sign that read: If I was black I’d be picking cotton, but I’m white so I’m picking U 4 prom.”

She said ‘Yes,’ but after his post when viral, he’s been getting nothing but hate. Students are even demanding that he not be allowed to go to prom.

Whoa! Video Surfaces of Kern County Sheriff Saying Killing Suspects is ‘Better Financially’ (Watch)

Screenshot, Kern County Sheriff Youngblood

*And we wonder where they get it from. The top is the answer!

If the top of the police food chain — the Sheriff — believes it’s financially better to kill a suspect than cripple him, is it any wonder why officers are so poorly trained on how to handle suspects in the streets. Is it any surprise they think its OK to shoot first and ask questions later?

Recently a video surfaced showing Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, who has led the department for more than a decade, talking to officers and telling them that killing a suspect instead of injuring them costs less and makes the family go away.

Don’t take my word for it, scroll down and listen for yourself.

In the video Youngblood is seated at a table, maybe on a stage or int the front of a room, speaking. He asks the group…

?You know what happens when a guy makes a bad shooting and somebody kills them??

Then says…

?Three million bucks and the family goes away after a long back and forth.?

He continues… Continue reading

Virginia Man Said He ‘Punched’ Woman for Calling Him the N-Word, Jury Claims M-Word (As in Murder) is in Order

*Robert Coleman may spend the next 10 years in prison after he admitted he punched a woman at a 7-eleven store because he said she called him the n-word.

Fedelia Montiel-Benitez died in a hospital 10 days later.

Coleman, 27, was unsuccessful in an Alexandria circuit Court when he told the jury of 12 that he “snapped” when Montiel-Benitez  aimed the racial slur at him, and that when he punched her he didn’t intend to kill her. But prosecutors said the woman did not speak enough English to use such a word. They added that even if she did use the word Coleman’s response was unjustified.

?Words alone? are no reason to kill, Assistant Commonwealth?s Attorney David Lord said in closing arguments.

Surveillance video from the store, located near the Mark Center on Seminary Road, showed the two in a 45-second conversation, but there was no audio. Coleman was there to buy cigarettes, and Montiel-Benitez was purchasing alcohol.

?We of course remain disappointed that they didn’t see it as manslaughter,? Coleman?s attorney, Robert Jenkins, said after the jury returned. He said Coleman and his family were ?grateful? for the jury?s recommended sentence, given that second-degree murder can carry a punishment of up to 40 years. It reflected, Jenkins said, ?that this was not something that he wanted to happen, that he did not intend to take someone?s life.? Continue reading

This Doesn’t Excuse What Happened to Stephon Clark, But His Disdain for Black Women Should Be Known (Watch)

Stephon Clark

*The horrific execution-style killing of 22-year-old Stephon Clark , who was shot by a white police officer while he was in his own backyard on Sunday, March 18, has definitely set off a firestorm in the Black Community. The killing of Black men sadly appear to be more like the norm than it does isolated incidents; and each time you wonder, will THIS one get justice?

This is the question being asked by many Black community leaders who are seeking accountability for the unjust killing of yet another Black man.

Namely, Stephon Clark.

In her conversation with Dr. Boyce Watkins, Paris Milan from FlyNubianQueen.com, speaks on what she learned about Clark from his personal tweets showing disdain for Black women.

Watkins’ question: “How do you line up and support a brother who clearly would not support you?” — thrown out to Black women in general, is what prompted the conversation. Continue reading

Two Bat-Wielding Sisters Beat Woman in Road Rage Incident (Watch)

*A Florida woman is lucky to be alive today after she was savagely beaten with a baseball bat after cutting off a woman in her car.

Mikaela Barboza, 26, actually caught the attack on her cellphone, and she is hoping it will help police find the women who attacked her.

Barboza said the incident happened last Thursday. She was driving down U.S. 441 in Lauderdale Lakes when she cut a woman off. She then recalled another woman ? said to be the sister of the woman who she initially cut off ? was yelling at her from  a separate vehicle.

?You cut my sister off, that?s disrespectful,? Barboza told WSVN on Sunday about what the sister said.

That wasn’t the end. Thing went downhill from there. Fearing for her life, Barboza told  WSVN  she drove into a strip mall hoping to lose the women, but they found her, and boxed her car in, trapping her. Continue reading
