*Black History Month is almost here, and instead of dwelling on the fact that our peeps get recognized only on the shortest month of the year (Yes, I just had to go there), let’s celebrate each of the days by showing up to some awesome events right here in Los Angeles. The Clayton Cameron Quintet at The ‘New’ World Stage in Los Angeles
“Brush Master” Clayton Cameron is known as a dynamic drummer who has also experimented with and perfected the art of brush technique. Free Film Screening: ‘Notes from The Field’ by Anna Deavere Smith at Los Angeles County Museum of Art
The newest showcase from writer/executive producer/performer Anna Deavere Smith (Twilight: Los Angeles), a version of her most recent stage production recorded for HBO and directed for the screen by Kristi Zea, “Notes From the Field” takes a hard and unflinching look at the gaping open wound that lies in the heart of institutional racism. Black Heritage Month Photography Exhibit Opening Reception With SOL (Sistahs of The Lens) at The Ebell of Los Angeles
As part of the Ebell of Los Angeles’ Black Heritage Month Celebration, Sistahs Of the Lens (SOL) will exhibit and sell photography in the Art Salon. The exhibit will run through March 9, 2018. Sistahs of the Lens (SOL) embrace a philosophy of inquiry, adventure, and exposition in their art. Five African American Women ? Sistahs ? come together. Read more here
