No Black Valedictorians Allowed?

How do we motivate our children if they feel that their academic efforts mean nothing because they are black?  One family feels they’re being discriminated against after their daughter, with a nearly perfect record of straight-A’s, advanced classes and honors, was still denied the honor of being valedictorian of her graduating class and asked to share it with a fellow white student.
