10-Year-Old Black Kid Describes How White Kids Bully Him in Alabama School (Watch)

Taylor A.

*They learn early don’t they? We’d like to think of children as these young, innocent and pure people; and they are, until taught otherwise. Then they can be cruel — even in elementary school — where a white kid stood in front of 10-year-old Taylor Armbrester, a Black kid, and read the following poem.

Actually, Taylor, while speaking to AL.com, said there were three different poems.

“Roses are red, violets are blue, I am white, you should be, too.

The second was…

Roses are red, violets are blue, I am white, why aren’t you?

And the third…

Roses are red, violets are blue, God made me pretty, what happened to you?”

Hmm…wonder where this elementary aged white kid got this idea from? Not to mention the poems. Continue reading

*I remember in the poignant song Daddy, Beyonce spoke of how her parents responded to the fact that she had gotten a tattoo. She sang…

I still remember I called you cryin’ ’cause of my tattoo
Could have said “Beyonce, I told ya so”
Instead you said you’d get one too
(Even my mama said y’all’d get one just like mine)

Well one teacher in Brazil has surely touched the heart of a little girl’s family, the folks that read about her bravo act of support and took it viral, and the little girl who now calls her hero. Continue reading

Teachers ‘Didn’t Do Anything’ to Help this Bullied Teen, So He Killed Himself (Video)

young-boy commits suicide

*He tried to get their attention, to let them know what he was going through. He wanted the teachers at Holy Angels Catholic Academy to know about the constant, merciless bullying he had to endure by five boys who used to be his friends. But 13-year-old Danny Fitzpatrick said the teachers “Didn’t do ANYTHING.” So the Staten Island boy with a smile that we now know hid a lot of pain, had enough and chose the only way out he could manage…

Danny, who was found by his 17-year-old sister, Kristen, with a belt around his neck, in the attic of his family’s home last Thursday, left a detailed letter that will break your heart (scroll down). The letter had actually been written last month, after the school recommended Danny should “repeat seventh grade at another school.” But the letter stayed with Danny.

According to the Daily News (Scroll down for video report), who was granted an exclusive interview with the family the morning after their son was found, Danny is said to have written, “I gave up,” on two sides of a single sheet of paper. “The teachers . . . they didn’t do anything,” he said, obviously beyond distraught.

The family shared the letter with The News.

In a 17-minute video, Danny’s father, Daniel Fitzpatrick, said through tears, “My son’s story is out there for the world to see. The pain that he went through. I miss my son very much. No parent should have to bury their child. No child should have to go through what my son went through.”

The clearly devastated father continues…

“What they put in the paper is true. It’s in our own words, his words I should say.

The shame of it all is that there are stories out there that speak of how heartbroken the staff at the school is. While I don’t doubt this is true, Danny’s letter only speaks of one teacher who helped him; but says even this help was not lasting. Continue reading

Watch: Little Girl Has Perfect Response to Boy Who Called Her ‘Ugly’

Siajh “Cici” Chase

*Not many of us grown folk can say we would have handled someone calling us ‘ugly’ with the grace that four-year-old Siajh “Cici” Chase did. After all, ‘dems fightin’ words. But I am a believer that children can also teach us lessons. And we shouldn’t dismiss them just because they’re young.

We should realize at this stage of the game that bullies come in all shapes, sizes and colors. But we expect them to appear in youth, and we hurt for our children who must endure the pain. But little Cici has obviously learned a thing or two in her young day. So when this boy approached her in pre-kindergarten class and said she looked ugly, he didn’t succeed in ruffling her feathers. She didn’t lose her cool and get bent out of shape. She didn’t punch him out. Instead she looked him square in the eye and used her words. And they weren’t in the tone you might think.

I see a future Speaker of the House here. Continue reading

San Francisco 49ers Players Deny Participation in Video Against Gay Bullying (Video)

San Francisco 49ers Ahmad Brooks and Isaac Sopoaga both deny taking part in an anti-gay bullying video for teens called "It Gets Better".

The SUPER BOWL is Sunday between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens and we hope that neither team is thrown off their game with controversy popping up on the sidelines. Plenty of controversy has been stirred up between the teams with media attention on Ray Lewis’s past and now a near “outing” of two members of the 49ers team.

Linebacker Ahmad Brooks and nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga both participated in a video called “It Gets Better” video last summer, but now deny ever being a part of the short film that “specifically combats bullying experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) teens.” Continue reading
