Renee Higginbotham-Brooks, Vice Chairwoman of Howard University’ Board of Trustees, exposed Howard University’s bleak financial outlook and irresponsible management of the university in a letter published by the Chronicles of Higher Education, April 24, 2013.
The Howard University debacle that we reported Monday, with a letter from Renee Higginbotham-Brooks, vice chairwoman of Howard’s board of trustees, saying that “Howard will not be here in three years if we don’t make some crucial decisions now.”
The letter sparked so much controversy throughout the Howard University community that the chair of the university’s governing board Addison Rand, came back with a formal letter of his own stating that ”without proper context [the letter] paints an unduly alarming picture of the University’s condition.” Continue reading
Picture this…you’re waiting for the bus and it’s right across from a bridge. You see this guy walk up to the edge and it looks like he’s there to kill himself. He swan dives over the side and you pick up your cell to alert police. The police arrive on the scene and you immediately feel a sense of relief come over you…until…you hear the police say to paramedics, “I would go out there and try to help my man out, but now with the city’s budget cuts, we don’t have the proper training or equipment that it takes to get him out.”
