Ed Gordon interviews Spike Lee at the 14th Annual Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Conference

Sheldon Jackson Lee, affectionately known as Spike Lee, came to Detroit for the 14th Annual Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs conference and was interviewed by Ed Gordon on the film industry and his career.

He has always been very outspoken with his ideas and opinions in race relations and politics and this time is no different.  He has a body of work that is more impressive than any other black filmmaker, yet he can’t get the draw of, a sayyyyyy, Tyler Perry.

The Slumdog Millionaire children Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, 11,  and Rubina Ali Qureshi, 10, have experienced some real life issues that rival those in the movie.

Even after starring in the film, their lives were not made any better.  The children had been in the news because they were getting beaten and the other almost sold (the father denies this).  But now it seems that they are not being sent to school.  (more…)

PepsiCo. lost big in court all because they simply did not show up.  But, they didn’t show because they didn’t know there was a lawsuit pending.

Two men, Charles Joyce and James Voigt won the judgment in September claiming they gave the company the idea in 1981 to sell bottled purified water.

The culprit:  Kathy Henry.  (Personally, I wouldn’t let them print my real name.  I would’ve been something like Sally Milltzwhatzacallit  because I would think she’d be embarrassed from looking like the worst secretary in the history of Earth.   (more…)

It has not been determined what this man was upset about, but he threw his young life down the drain to prove a point.

And while he thought he was going to get away with terrorizing his estranged girlfriend’s family, the Baltimore judge who sentenced him was planning to throw the book-shelf at him in an effort to prove a point as well.

The Baltimore Sun reported that the young man, Gregory S. Imes, Jr. , 27, had an estranged  girlfriend who obviously didn’t want to be bothered with him. (more…)

Dean Cage and fiancee' Jewel Mitchell after serving 14 years and being exonerated

Dean Cage was wrongfully accused for rape 14 years ago.  He spent all that time in jail and had never done anything.  He didn’t have a record of any sort, yet two components came together to seal his fate.

There was a young woman who thought she knew her assailant and he was a black man in America …  his word had no weight. (more…)

Richmond High School rape crime scene

What kind of animals, whether involved or not, stand around while a 15-year old girl is raped repeatedly for two and a half hours.  The young woman’s identity hasn’t been given, but she was flown to shock trauma and listed in critical but stable condition.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the incident took place Saturday in Richmond, Ca., at Richmond High School’s Homecoming dance.  One of the males that stands accused is a former student of the school, Manuel Ortega, 19.  He was arrested not too long after he left the scene of the crime and faces ”charges of rape, robbery and kidnapping,” police said.
