Long gone is the blue light specials of K-mart.  It’s as though the place is the ghost of shopping’s past.  Now it’s all about Wal-mart and Target.  Ask your girlfriend guys.  And if you are a true Wal-mart shopper, you might even want to live there.  Yes, I said…”live there!”  Because now Wal-mart is not only giving you the opportunity to go to its expanded housewares and appliance section, otherwise known as Lowes, but they also want to offer you a place to live…Wal-mart style. Tying the knot might be a popular figure of speech used to represent marriage for some, but for the young black men at  Urban Prep Academy for Young Men, it means they are college bound.  The regular uniform required in Chicago’s Englewood Urban Prep calls for a black blazer, red tie and khaki’s.  But yesterday, they all slipped on the coveted red and gold striped tied to symbolize that they had been accepted into a college of their choosing.  (more…)

Jimmy Kimmel’s show isn’t all THAT popular and now he’s going to call a black woman…no change that!  An Oscar-winning black woman a furry beast on national television.   Mo’Nique, as Jay-Z would say, really isn’t the one to try and score points off of.  She has a platform at the helm of her very own night time talk show on BET too.  So, he might wanna steer clear of her, especially when there could be a comment even mildly translated as racist targeted at her.  She keeps it REAL!  And that’s kinda where all of this controversy begins. What’s up y’all?!  Here is the dirt…

Last night while y’all were watching the Oscars, I was sitting in an awards ceremony where my mentor was being honored.  Because I was there for moral support and not there to dish the dirt, I will not put the organization sponsoring the event on blast.  Even though they have given me enough material for WEEKS of dirt dishin.  Let’s just say that it was a real KNEE-GROW Production.  I will give you a couple of blind items though.  There were three mothers with famous sons in the house and they were cutting the damn fool.  One mama, whose son is the rapper/singer that Jay Z made a dis song about, was all up on stage “backing that thang up” with a not so funny… or famous, comedian hunching her bootie.  Another celebrity mom whose son believes that he is the hottest rapper alive was throwing back martini’s like a FISH!  Lastly, the celebrity mom with the most talented son in the freakin WORLD right now (who happens to be an R&B singer, Actor, Writer and Dancer) was rockin’ a long BLOND wig looking a mess by the head while throwing them back with her extra “urban” counterparts.  I won’t call this mama “urban” per se’ but I will call her boo-jeh-toe.   Before y’all judge these women, PU-LEASE know that I don’t blame them one bit for getting DRUNK and cutting loose as this awards ceremony was  a MESS!  Did I mention that the awards they gave out looked like little league trophies??  Nuff said…

On to the Oscars…

Congrats go out to Mo’Nique for her win as Best Supporting Actress in the movie Precious.  I am SO glad she covered up those hairy azz ham hocks of hers.  Don’t trip though, according to Mo’ Nique, her man loves it.  YUCK!

Side Bar-Okay y’all, not to go there but hair holds odor and if she ain’t shaving her legs, she may not be shaving/ waxing anything else.  I’ll stop there as I begin to dry heave… (more…)

Ms. Daisey Bailey, 113 years old.

Everyone in America (and quite possibly the world) would have benefitted from getting a chance to hear a living griot.  Not that Ms. Daisey Bailey was an official griot, but surely with being 113 years and 342 days old, there was a story to tell.  She’s a Detroiter, but according to AOL News, she was born March 30, 1896, in Tennessee.  There’s not much information given on her history as of yet, but AOL News reported that she would “carry wood on her shoulders” to do her part to help warm their home. The President is trying something new to reel in the banks and credit agencies by creating the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.  The hilarious website  Funny or Die.com, is promoting the CFPA in its own special way by bringing back some of Saturday Night Live’s funniest past cast members ever to represent past presidents to haunt President Obama with their wrongdoings.  Clinton, Bush (1 and 2), Reagan, Ford, and Carter are all in attendance.
