 The children nowadays have so much more to contend with than we did.  We could eat candy all day long and top it off with big mama’s soul food at dinner time.  But not now, the tides of change have erased all of that.  The parents these days are buying fast food for dinner and/or lunch and not only that making sure they have goodies around the house to snack on. If you’re not familiar with John Forte, he’s a rapper and producer that produced songs on the Fugees groundbreaking album “The Score.”  He also released a couple albums, but his musical fortune was soon squandered by disastrous album sales and he hit a rough patch.  He caught a drug charge that landed him a 14-year stint at Pennsylvania’s low security Loretto federal prison.  But his story did not end there.  The story of his life would prevent that from being anywhere near the end.  What’s up y’all?!  Here is the dirt…

LisaRaye is FINALLY talking about her divorce from the Prime Minister of Turks and Caicos.  She sits down and dishes the dirt with Essence Magazine in a two part interview.  Not only does she talk about her relationship with her estranged husband, she also addresses the bloggers who call her “ghetto.”  Now under normal circumstances I don’t call folks “ghetto” because let’s face it…we all know I can be a lil’ “soul” from time to time, but we also know that LisaRaye is the epitome of “ghetto sophisticated” which is why we love her so much.  According to LisaRaye, she grew up beyond middle class because her father was a multi-millionaire.  Now LisaRaye and I both grew up on the south side of Chicago and I know some “hood” chicks as well as some “upper middle class” chicks and not once would I have EVER deemed her anything other than “hood” no matter how much money she had.  You can check out part one of the article by clicking here.  (more…)

Eight! Count ‘em! Eight babies were born into the world all at the same time yesterday.  The babies seem to be doing fine.  But, how in the heck do these couples expect to care for such a large family of infants.  It’s amazing that people, in these economic times would even be tempted to have children, much less fertility drugs.  While fertility drugs weren’t determined in the story, one can only assume, right?  How many people are having a litter of children…naturally? Before I can even get to the scientific research on this topic, let’s just be clear, that the information collected in this survey was done in China and not in the U.S.  That being said, women everywhere in the U.S. can stop standing up with their hand on their hip saying, “You’re a damn lie!”

Michelle Obama should’ve known that the mention of her Cuban and Asian designers was going to start a storm sooner or later.  The thoughtful choice of two unknown designers that were also minority was tainted by the fact that there could have been an opportunity in there for a black up and coming designer as well.
