*Well ain’t this some crazy ass mess. That’s not even meant to be a question. Her name is Alexandria Vera, but they call her “Vera” — maybe because she looks like a kid herself. But she’s not. Vera is a Houston middle school teacher at the Aldine Independent School District and she has been charged with the continuous sexual abuse of her 13-year-old student; who she says impregnated her.
As if that’s not bad enough, she claims the sexual relationship was with the blessings of the kid’s parents.
The student attends Stovall Middle School, where Vera teaches. He is said to be in her English class. The inappropriate relationship began last September, according to what Vera told the District Attorney’s office.
The DA’s office said an investigation by a peace officer was ordered after they received word about a teacher and student having an inappropriate relationship. The officer received school records that showed the age of the student, who was younger than 14 when Vera began having sex with him.
According to prosecutors, Vera said she met the student last summer, after he tried to reach out to her on Instagram. She reached back one day when he was absent, and sent him a message. It was then, says the prosecutor, that the kid asked for her phone number.
Court docs say the kid asked Vera if they could hang out and she said yes. The teacher admits she picked the student up at his home (where in the hell were his parents at this point!!!?) and they drove around in her car and kissed.
But here’s the kicker! Vera swears the kid’s parents not only knew about the relationship, they approved of it. She said they even let the boy spend a night at “his girlfriend’s” house, and she would drop him off at home the next morning so that he could take the school bus.
During these sleepovers, which started in the spring, the two engaged in sex regularly, according to court documents.
Vera told prosecutors that the parents even invited her to family gatherings.
Investigators spoke with other parents who were said to be in a state of “disbelief,” according to prosecutors.
As Vera’s relationship with the student grew, and they continued to have sex and spend time together, court reports say in January, Vera got pregnant with the student’s baby. She told the officer that the student’s family was told about the pregnancy and that they were supportive and excited, prosecutors said.
But Vera had an abortion, according to court documents, because she got nervous when Child Protective Services showed up at school in February to question her and the student about their relationship.
The DA’s office said Vera denied the relationship then.
An officer who conducted a forensic exam at Vera’s home said phone messages between the teacher and student were consistent with her claims.
