*Yes, this is the kind of sh*t that gets us riled up! Harming an innocent infant, not to mention being the parent doing the harm, is enough to make the blood boil. I’m talking about little Aiden Stein. Aiden suffered from “shaken baby syndrome” after his father, Matthew Stein, lost his temper with the crying infant. The boy had to be hospitalized for the rest of his young life, and died on Sunday at Columbus hospital, according to a report by the Associated Press.
We first learned about Aiden when the incident gained national attention due to a guardian, at the time, appointed by a probate judge, sought to have the child removed from life support and the parents fought it.
In December of 2004, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the guardian lacked the authority to make that decision.
Matthew Stein was charged with shaking Aiden — who was 4-months old at the time, but denied he did it.
He was found guilty of felonious assault and child endangerment by a Mansfield jury in September 2005 and went to jail for eight years.
According to a statement by a Richland County prosecutor on Wednesday, the father will “unlikely” be charged any further.
