*Many educators got into teaching because they love having the opportunity to shape young minds. They have a passion for their work and take great pride in what they do as a result. It is the model teachers set in classrooms across the world, that will enable students to approach learning with a sense of confidence…or feelings of defeat.
So if a teacher tells a student, “you’re doing great! Keep up the good work,” this student will leave that class with his head held high and shoulders squared.
Now how do you think a student who a teacher calls “dumb”…in front of the entire class, mind you, will fair?
No wait. Let’s say it the way it was said to her.
“I have been around for 37 years and clearly, you are the dumbest girl that I have ever met.”
And then, to add insult to injury he added, “You know what your purpose [is] going to be? To have sex and have children, because you ain’t gonna never be smart,” he continued.
Obviously, he didn’t know he was being recorded.
The name of the teacher is apparently being kept under wraps, at least for now.
Shaniaya Hunter is a student at Greene County High School who suffers from an eye condition that caused her to miss classes. In an attempt to catch up for a test after her absences, she asked her teacher a question.
By sheer happenstance, she was recording the lesson on her iPad, so when he allegedly snapped back with the rude and condescending comment, she caught it all on tape.
And there is no way he can refute it.
The humiliated teen, who told Atlanta’s WSB-TV this was not the first time her teacher had spoken to a student in such a way said, “It really hurt me inside.”
When Hunter’s mother, Cathy Wright, complained to the school about what had happened, she wasn’t satisfied with the response and subsequently, went out and got an attorney.
On the recording (scroll down to listen to this fool!) you can hear the teacher sounding off on the student. He sounds embarrassingly ignorant, and what really hurts is that you can tell he is a black man.
Shaniaya’s mother secured Ben Windham, an attorney who is based in Greensboro. He has decided to take the case on a pro bono basis.
“This man does not need to be teaching young children. It’s not a gray area. End of story,” Windham said.
And Wright agrees, stating, “We’re gonna fight. We’re gonna keep fighting until it’s over. It’s not over yet,” Wright said.
The attorney says they are not even seeking financial compensation. They just want this man fired!
Meanwhile, the school district has refused to comment on the incident; putting up smoke screens and quoting policy.
Listen to this pitiful excuse for a teacher in the video report below.
