A teen brought to the police station by his mother, to do the right thing and turn himself in, after killing the lover of his girlfriend, turned the gun on himself.
In the police station parking lot.
“I don’t know why he was tripping over this one girl, but it was not worth it,” Darian Mitchell, a friend of the dead teen told KHOU. Mitchell says he was with the teen, when the girlfriend called, taunting him.
When the teen asked, “What are y’all doing?” the girlfriend responded, “I’m cheating on you right now,” Mitchell said. “He got so mad, so he kept yelling. He told her and her boyfriend to come meet us, to talk,” he added.
But the teen and James Ayala, a 25-year-old Army vet who was with the girl, got into a heated argument. At which point the teen shot and killed the vet.
“When he shot him, his girlfriend started screaming and then he ran,” Mitchell recalled. “And then he shot again, and then everyone started coming out and screaming.”
Reports say that around 5 o’clock in the morning, Sgt. Cedrick Collier noticed a car with its headlights on in the parking lot of the Harris County Sheriff’s office.
Inside the car sat the mother of the young killer and her son, who she told the approaching officer was there to turn himself in for the murder that had occurred in the 2900 block of Katy Briar Lane.
Collier asked for confirmation of what the woman was saying from the teen, who replied, “Yes.”
As the teen got out of the car, a weapon was seen in his hand. But before Collier could retrieve his own gun, and demand the teen drop the weapon, the young man raised the gun to his head and fired.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but died soon after. And his name has yet to be released because the authorities are still investigating.
The Army vet killed was the father of five children.
