*A 21-year-old woman who left a house party in Milwaukee’s freezing temperatures; wearing only a tank top and a pair of shorts was found frozen to death the next morning only a short distance away.
Surveillance video caught Elizabeth Luebke as she collapsed outside of a home around 4:30 a.m., according to the Associated Press.
According to what the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office told Fox6 News, Luebke was “reportedly in the area for a concert.” The medical examiner elaborated, saying Luebke was intoxicated and “not dressed for the elements” in shorts, tights and a tank top.
She had no coat on.
Good lord. My heart aches for her. Especially since I was recently caught outside in extremely cold weather as I waited for a train. But I did have on a sweatshirt and the elements are kinder where I now reside. Back east and in the mid-west, not so much. This young woman was in temperatures of 5.8 degrees with a wind chill factor of -27.5 degrees when a passerby saw her and called 911, according to Fox6.
Fox 6 reports that Luebke’s mother, Kathryn Luebke, had filed a missing persons report and drove to Milwaukee after someone alerted her that her daughter was unaccounted for. Kathryn admitted to police that her daughter had a history of alcohol abuse and had even been hospitalized in October with a blood alcohol content of 0.40 percent – five times the legal limit to drive, the AP reported.
A friend of the woman’s also conveyed Elizabeth often went by the name Lana Kane, and that she was “really, really drunk” on Sunday and “she got mad at her other friend and she stormed out” of the house party.
