*The legacy of former Subway franchise pitchman, Jared Fogel, won’t be how he mobilized a movement to lose weight by eating a nearly exclusive diet of Subway sandwiches. Nor will it be the nonprofit organization he started for children with the millions he made from the promotion. No, his legacy will be about the dirty little secret he kept. The one that had police raiding his home and finding boxes upon boxes of evidence in the way of child pornography.

That is what people will remember when all is said and done.

Today Fogel plead guilty and was sentenced by an Indianapolis court to 15-1/2 years in Federal prison for his part in child pornography trading and illicit sex charges.

Fogel also traveled to have illicit paid sex with minors, as was revealed in August; when he was arrested and said he would cooperate with prosecutors.

According to Yahoo News Fogle will get sexual disorder treatment and will be a registered sex offender. U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt also sentenced him to a lifetime of supervision and a $175,000 fine.

While Fogel’s attorneys had asked the judge for five years, and prosecutors wanted 12-1/2 years, Judge Pratt had her own justification for ignoring them both and giving him 15-1/2.

“The defendant was obsessed with child pornography and sex with minors,” Pratt said. Fogle was remanded to the custody of a U.S. Marshall, and Pratt recommend he go to a federal prison in Littleton, Colorado.

An article in the Miami Herald via the Associated Press says Fogel showed little emotion in court today (Thursday) and after the court ordered him to be handcuffed and led out, his family started crying and hugging each other.

Judging from the photo of Fogel walking into court today (I can’t show you here because of copyright issues) but you can see it hereit looks like Fogel is putting on the weight he worked so hard to lose again. Stress will do that to you.

It’s a mutha for ya, yet the very least of his worries – which he will have at least 15 years to sort out.
