*Many people have learned to run their mouth incessantly, and some of them actually talk a good game. But few of the mouth-runners actually have something to show
for all that talk. So don’t even bother listening to the next broke-ass individual that tries to tell you how to go about making money.
I just had to get that off my chest before I introduce ( or re-introduce) you to Jaylen D. Bledsoe. Yes people, it is possible to learn about the road to success from a 17-year-old. Especially one who is a successful entrepreneur whose company, Bledsoe Technologies, LLC, is valued at $3.5 million dollars!
His tech company now employs 180 people around the country and in the video below, he successfully uses the metaphor of a GPS to break down the concepts of win and fail or just “recalculate.”
Bledsoe is a nationally recognized teen entrepreneur, investor, motivational speaker and business development consultant.
A techie in every sense of the word, Bledsoe used a $100 investment to develop his information technology consulting business when he was 12 years old and within two years he had 150 contractors.
Bledsoe, who is now working on an app for hotels (something about your cellphone acting as a room key) has been successful in a number of areas including start-up businesses, brand and business development, venture capital funding, direct marketing platform development and implementation, entrepreneurship and increasing revenue streams.
And of course Hollywood has taken notice (his clients include celebs like Jordin Sparks and Steve Harvey).
All I can say is that I commend the parents of Jaylen Bledsoe, who appears to stay out of his limelight, but at the same time supported him immensely with great guidance, a strong and focused work ethic and most importantly, a belief in his dream.
“I see greater meaning in knowing that I’ve motivated someone with my story, inspired someone with my words, or impacted someone with my business rather than just enjoying the check that’s offered,” he told The Huffington Post. “I’ve come to the understanding in my life as I travel the country speaking to youth, hoping to change lives, that the word ‘net-worth’ doesn’t have to simply be the equation of ‘your assets minus your liabilities’.” –Jaylen D. CEO Scott Schnuck is the man Bledsoe credits as being a mentor to him from the very beginning of his business journey. He says the owner of a chain of grocery stores gave him invaluable advice:
‘Take risks, there’s nothing that you can do as a minor that will shoot you down for too long. Because you are young, you can come back up and keep going.”
Help your teen become an entrepreneur. If you are in Los Angeles, be sure to have them attend ‘Startup Weekend,’ where a panel of successful business owners will mentor them over a 3-day period and help them build a business model. Learn more about it here.
