*As proof positive that ignorance is indeed bliss, a self-described “Southern-American” white man was queried at a rally for people who support the confederate flag. Apparently, the man, who stood staunch in righteousness, was wearing a pair of tennis shoes well known to be designed by a black man. Moreover, the acronym used for the shoe was purposely done so to denote a symbol of empowerment for black people.
F.U.B.U. an American clothing and hip-hop apparel line founded in 1992 by Daymond John (“Shark Tank”), means: For Us By Us…
“Us” being the operative word for black folk.
So when this was told to the tattoo-wearing man, who was approached by someone named George Chidi of Neon Flag, the irony went right over this man’s head.
Surprised? Let me get that for you.
…Not so much.
Yet and still, this “Mr. Know it all” (all knowing except for the shoe) went on an almost berating tantrum; chiding Chidi (pun intended) for even bringing the fact to his attention. He pointed out that “The shoes you are wearing was probably made by a white man in the 1920s, but that didn’t stop you from wearing ’em.”
What’s a man with good sense to do, but walk away.
