*From the photo of the little guy pictured above, he even looks guilty.
And let me tell you, according to a lot of parents, he is.
They say this little McDonald’s toy, called a talking minion, has a filthy mouth. And claim he is using it to spew cuss words.
According to local news outlets in Florida and Ohio parents are very concerned because they swear this Happy Meal toy is saying “What the f—”
“It turned out to be a toy that decided to talk profanity,” Florida grandparent Bradley Merten, who contacted the station after purchasing the toy, told Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV. “I can’t believe it’s coming out of a toy.”
McDonald’s is including one of three talking Minions toys in its Happy Meals to promote the new Universal movie by the same name (Minions) that hits theaters on Friday. The toy that is allegedly using swear words, also happens to be wearing a loin cloth.
Grandpa is afraid that his granddaughter might pick up the phrase, and adds that McDonald’s should “Check their toys before they hand them over.”
It’s easy to assume that one family may be making a mistake in what they thought they heard. But they are not alone, others are starting to speak out on the foul-mouthed toys too.
“I heard what it said and I’m like, ‘Whoa, hang on here,’” Taylor King of Ohio told Ohio Fox affiliate WTTE. The dad adds, “It clearly says what it says.”
And Robert Frazier, another Ohio dad added, “As soon as we heard it, her mom took it away. I listened to it and that’s when we found out that’s what it was saying.”
In a YouTube video posted by one of the parents, they claim the toy says “Well, I’ll be damned” and “What the f—”
And you’ll get a kick out of what McDonald’s told The Hollywood Reporter.
They say the toys aren’t cursing, they speak “Minionese.”
“Minions speak ‘Minionese’ which is a random combination of many languages and nonsense words and sounds,“ a rep for McDonald’s told THR via email. “We’re aware of a very small number of customers who have been in touch regarding this toy, and we apologize for any confusion or offense to those who may have interpreted the sounds for anything other than jibberish. The allegation that this toy is saying any offensive phrase is not true. Any perceived similarities to actual English words are purely coincidental.”
Furthermore, McDonald’s told THR what the Caveman Minion is saying: “para la bukay,” “hahaha,” and “eh eh.”
Sandra Bullock, Allison Janney and Jon Hamm provide the voices for Universal’s Minions, the prequel which showcasaes the lovable yellow creatures from the Despicable Me films.
The movie hits theaters on Friday. For all we know, this could be a part of the promotion.
So, what do think people. Is the little yellow toy in the video below saying, “Well I’ll be damned. WTF?”
