*Abby Wake was already having irregular periods. And she blamed her bloating on the fact that she was lactose intolerant. So when the doctor rather nonchalantly told her she was eight months along in her pregnancy, she probably thought it was him that needed to see a doctor.
The doctor “was just like, ’32 weeks,'” Wake told CBS in Los Angeles. “He was just doing the measurements. And we were like, ‘I’m sorry?'”
According to what Wake told the station, she didn’t have any “symptoms.” Though it seems every once in a while she felt a flutter of some sort.
“There weren’t like kicks and huge movements. It was just like gurgles,” she told CBS.
But when she and her boyfriend Jarryd Gorman was at a concert, and he reached over to touch her belly, he got suspicious.
“I felt the baby kick and I looked at her and said, ‘I think you’re definitely pregnant,'” he told the station. “We need to go see someone straight away.”
The couple got the official news from Dr. Payman Joseph, who told the station “it is more common than most people think.”
Wake is “very thin compared to a lot of the other women that I’ve seen this in,” Joseph revealed.
So now the couple has taken to GoFundMe to raise money for a “virtual baby shower.”
The page is authored by the yet-to-be-born infant, and reads:
“You haven’t met me yet but my name is Isaac and my mommy didn’t know about me until last week! No Kidding! I have been hiding in mommy’s tummy for the last 8 months. I am extroadinary (sic) already!”
