Cincinnati Woman, 20, Accused of Beheading Her Three-Month-Old Daughter

Women accused of beheading infant

*Just when you thought you’d heard just about every reprehensible, grisly, evil act out there, your thought is bested by a new unmentionable. A young woman in the Cincinnati area is facing charges in connection with the gruesome death of her baby daughter.

Sources close to the investigation say the girl was beheaded.

Deasia Watkins, 20, has been charged with aggravated murder in connection with the death of her 3-month-old girl on Monday, according to police.

Officers responded to a call at the 5900 block of Waldway Lane around 6 a.m. reporting a deceased infant. Officers found the 3-month-old dead inside the home.

According to an preliminary investigation by the Hamilton County coroner Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco, the little girl suffered “multiple traumas.”

The coroner said Monday it remains unclear if Watkins acted alone.

“It’s days like this when you really wonder how much evil there is in the world and how we’re fighting it,” Sammarco said. “We’re trying to do right by this child. We’re trying to bring justice for this baby.”

Sammarco will release more details after her investigative team meets over the next several days.

Neighbor Jimmie Graham watched the investigation unfold on Monday. He lives next door to the Watkins household and said he was shocked to hear about the baby’s death.

She must have been out of her mind,” he said of Watkins. “I can’t see how somebody could do something like that.”

The Cincinnati Police Department Homicide Unit and the coroner’s office are handling the investigation.

WCPO reporter Evan Millward and web editor Holly Pennebaker contributed to this report.
