*Creflo Dollar, the popular televangelist, has his eye on a luxurious new private jet. Under the name Project G650, he has asked 200,000 of his followers to donate $300 each so he can buy it. And of course, God wants him to have the very best. Dollar heads the Georgia-based World Changers Church and he says the luxury jet is necessary so that he and his colleagues can travel the globe and preach the word. The preacher had an older plan previously, but it has been grounded.
Sounds like an expensive share. Now I get what one writer meant when he wrote, Negro please.
Dollar originally put the appeal on his Creflo Dollar Ministries’ website but changed its tone to reflect a Campaign once it was taken down.
“We believe it is time to replace this aircraft so that our Pastors and staff can continue to safely and swiftly share the Good News of the Gospel worldwide,” the copy read.
“… Therefore, we are asking members, partners, and supporters of this ministry to assist us in acquiring a Gulfstream G650 airplane so that Pastors Creflo and Taffi and World Changers Church International can continue to blanket the globe with the Gospel of grace.”
“The G650 is the biggest, fastest, most luxurious, longest range and most technologically advanced jet — by far — that Gulfstream has ever built,” Flying Magazine wrote in 2013.
A video was part of the funding pitch and you could hear Dollar explaining what happened to the other plane. He said at one time an engine failed on a trip he took to Australia; and at another time there was a runway accident blamed on a mechanical issue. Dollar says his wife and daughters were on-board.
While the specific request is for $300 from 200,000 donors, the written appeal noted: “Your love gift of any amount will be greatly appreciated.”
