*One thing is for sure, while every neighborhood in every city, state and country in the world has its own set of crazy, few can compete with Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles. With an assortment of street ‘entrepreneurs’ in tact, even its panhandlers find creative ways to get tourists’ dollars. Which also makes it a competitive area – where turf wars can break out between the most unexpected ‘colleagues’. Take comic superhero Mr. Incredible, who was recently sentenced to 3 years probation after pleading guilty to attacking Batgirl in a Hollywood Boulevard turf dispute, prosecutors said on Tuesday.
…and who else would step in to save the day, but the one and only Star Wars character, the beloved Wookiee, Chewbacca.
Of course creepy ‘Freddy Kruger‘ was one of the bystanders.
His real name is Muhammet Bilik. And anger management therapy, 20 days of roadside cleanup and an order to stay away from the so-called Hollywood Entertainment District where the altercation happened was also tacked on to the 35-year-old ‘superhero’s’ sentence.
“Hollywood Boulevard is famous around the globe and attracts millions of visitors every year. We must keep it safe,” Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer said in a statement announcing the plea and sentence.
“The characters who interact with children and family along Hollywood Blvd have to obey the law,” he said.
According to Reuters, prosecutors say Bilik attacked a woman who dresses as Batgirl (her civilian identity has not been revealed by authorities), after a dispute over sidewalk territory along a famed stretch of Hollywood Boulevard that draws tourists from around the world.
A video of the incident (scroll down) was captured by a passerby and posted on YouTube. It shows Bilik, in his Mr. Incredible costume, slamming Batgirl into a rack of souvenir baseball caps as Chewbacca and Freddy Krueger attempt to intervene.
Mr. Incredible is the father of a family of superheroes in the hit 2004 Disney-Pixar film “The Incredibles.”
