High Profile Cases Never Brought to Trial: Ever Wonder How Grand Jury’s Work?

*No “guilty” or “innocent” verdicts were handed down in two of the highest-profile cases this year. Officers Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Mo., and Daniel Pantaleo in Staten Island, N.Y., didn’t even go to trial at all..

And these officers actually killed unarmed, black men.

In both cases, a grand jury decided that no criminal charges should be filed against them.

The decisions, handed down within two weeks of each other, sparked a racial divide and outrage across the country and around the world.

We won’t ever  know what actually went down in the room where the grand juries came to their decisions. Why? Well, it’s kind of like Vegas, “what happens in the grand jury room stays in the grand jury room.”

But what if you could actually take a peek behind that closed door? See what makes them tick?

There’s a video you should watch.

All deliberations are top secret, and even though the prosecutor can sporadically release some evidence to the public, it’s a crime for a grand juror to talk about any of the proceedings.

So what the heck goes on behind those closed doors? To find out, watch the video  Katie Couric put together for Yahoo News. Maybe after watching, when it comes to the grand jury process, you can say, “Now I get it.”

Watch the video at Yahoo News.
