*Yep, I did a double take when I heard about this, too. Of all the things to be arrested for. But neighbors have complained about the loud noises of a “sexual nature” coming through the walls; out of the windows and over the terrain whenever Mr. and Mrs. Cartwright – who will soon celebrate their 25 year wedding anniversary – decides to get down.
Haters, I tell you!
The woman was even given an Asbo (antisocial behavior disorder offense) for the “crime” but has already breached it after just three days.
Sunderland magistrates slapped a four-year Abso on Caroline Cartwright on Thursday to discourage her from making excessive noise’ while having sex with her husband.
But Caroline, 48, and her husband Steve, had neighbors mad again by Sunday, and she was arrested yesterday and could be in jail for five years when she appears before Houghton magistrates on Monday.
“The police came round on Sunday and I was arrested after complaints from a neighbour,” Caroline Cartwright offered.
“I was arrested yesterday as well, but I’m not going to stop.
“I’ve been making the same noises since the ASBO was imposed, and this morning, we were making noises for three hours.
“I don’t know why the neighbours complained yesterday and Sunday, but not on the other days, when we were doing exactly the same.
“I’m appealing against the ASBO and the conviction.
“I can’t stop making noise during sex, it’s unnatural to not make any noises, and I don’t think that I’m particularly loud.”
Caroline was convicted of five breaches of an abatement notice and fined a total of £515.
The ASBO conditions stated that Cartwright cannot make excessive noise, knocking, shouting, screaming or vocalisation that can be heard in neighbouring properties or outside the house
Magistrates learned that the Cartwright’s neighbour, Margery Ball, had been kept awake for two years and had not had a good night’s sleep because of the Cartwright’s – even though she is partially deaf.
An environmental Health Officer told the court Sunderland Council had received 250 complaints on its logging system and recordings were made from a neighbour’s house
Health officers even placed recording equipment in neighbours’ homes and aother neighbour, Rachel O’Connor, even had apparatus that enabled her to press a button on a machine every time she was disturbed by noise from next door.
She told Sunderland Magistrates Court: ‘I heard sounds of a sexual nature. They were really loud, and there was a lot of moaning and groaning and screaming as if in pain.
‘It wasn’t just the woman, it came from both parties.’
