*Gag me. But there is a fool born every minute so…
Somehow the words “racial diversity” in the same sentence as “KKK” seems more like an oxymoron than an actual goal; but this is the supposed new direction of the organization that has come to be recognized as the definition of pure hate towards anyone belonging to a minority group such as Blacks, Jews, Homosexuals, and Catholics.
Founded in December 1865 as a resistance group towards anything that represented even a hint of civil rights towards black people, now, according to John Abarr, a member of the Montana Klan, out with the old and in with the new – Klan, that is. He says the organization wants to add more diversity because they aim to build a strong America.
How much you wanna bet he said this with a straight face too?
Speaking with the Great Fall Tribune, Abarr said, “White supremacy is the old Klan. This is the new Klan.”
The modern Ku Klux Klan is not one organization, but rather a composition of many small chapters across the United States. Abarr’s vision of the Klan is that nationalism is a more superior ideology to rally around than racism.
According to the Washington Times, The new Klan will not focus on race, but rather on reining in the federal government and keeping Capitol Hill from establishing a “new world order” under a unified force.
Abarr has been busy folks. He has apparently got the attention of NAACP rep Jimmy Simmons, who he met last year and apparently convinced that the direction of the “new Klan” might be worth looking into. Simmons commented that if Abarr holds a peace summit next summer, he would “take a strong look” at joining – this according to USA Today.
“The use of the letters Ku Klux Klan instills fear in people,” said Simmons.
According to Abarr, members are joining the Klan from all over the country. But of course he doesn’t talk about the skeptics.
The co-director of the Montana Human Rights Network said Abarr doesn’t need to use the KKK to form a more inclusive organization.
Rachel Carroll-Rivas said, “If John Abarr was actually reformed, he could drop the label of the KKK.”
Abarr isn’t the first so-called reformist of the Klan. In 1974, David Duke founded the Louisiana-based Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (KKKK), a Louisiana Ku Klux Klan organization.
Duke’s reformed organization promoted nonviolence and legality, and for the first time in the Klan’s history, accepted women as equal members and encouraged Catholics to apply for membership. However, it didn’t last.
Duke left the Klan and formed the National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP).
So there you go.
