*Howard Hendrix managed to delay his ride to jail on a domestic disturbance charge, because he was just too damn big to fit in the patrol car. At 500 pounds, and 6-feet tall, his size played in his favor.
But as you can guess, the cops had a solution: they summoned a prisoner transport van to haul the prisoner to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach on Sunday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
But Hendrix, 45, of Apopka, Florida, had previously used his size to resist arrest in other ways.
Hendrix sat down on the floor and challenged officers to move him. He also allegedly kicked a deputy in the leg, according to police documents obtained by the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
But on this day, the whole dispute started when Hendrix’ girlfriend told deputies that during an argument he had cornered her in the garage and slapped her shoulder and face, poked her in the chest, and spit her in the face, according to ClickOrlando.com.
He allegedly punched a hole in her wall too.
Hendrix surprised deputies in his “birthday suit” when they arrived. He had even taken a shower.
According to WESH.com, investigators claim he smelled of alcohol, and had glassy eyes and slurred speech.
Since Hendrix didn’t go down easy, so to speak, additional charges were added, such as battery on a law enforcement officer, criminal mischief, resisting an officer without violence, battery causing bodily harm and driving under the influence, according to the Miami Herald.
He is being held on $5,000 bond.
