*She just couldn’t let him go, I suppose. Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa was apparently so hung up on a guy she had met online and went out with about six-times, that when he decided to end their relationship, she channeled her inner Santa Claus and tried to get into his house through the chimney.
Unfortunately, she got stuck halfway down.
She probably has mixed-feelings about the neighbor who heard her crying at around 5a.m. and called police. After all, once they rescued her, they took her straight to jail.
According to Capt. Renee Ferguson of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Nunez-Figueroa, 30, had been stuck in that chimney for an estimated two hours. The owner of the house was a man who had recently ended a relation ship with her.
In order to free the woman the rescue crew had to deconstruct the chimney and lubricate the woman with dish soap. She was finally rescued around 8:15 a.m. and taken to a hospital for evaluation, according to KABC TV.
But immediately after her release from the hospital, she was arrested on suspicion of illegal entry and giving false information to police, NBC Los Angeles reports.
The suspect’s bail was set at $2,500 and she is due in court on Tuesday.
The homeowner, who only gave his name as “Lawrence,” was not home when the incident happened.
“It wasn’t Santa Claus, for sure,” Lawrence told CBS Los Angeles. “Having someone in your chimney is like kind of a weird thing you wouldn’t expect to come home to.”
Lawrence told authorities he had met the suspect online and went out with her six times before ending things recently.
“It’s actually the second attempt for her trying to access the inside of my house, from the roof,” Lawrence told CBS Los Angeles. “Which just goes to show you,” he said, “you have to be careful who you meet online.”
The suspect’s family has offered to pay for the repairs.
