*I dare you to complain about living in America after you hear this mess. With all due respect to the cultures and their rituals, you can’t possibly expect everybody to take this kind of news with a straight face. Trust me, there will be deviants!
With that said, villagers told an 18-year-old Indian girl that if she wanted to ward off evil spirits, she would have to get married. Not to a man, mind you. Nor to a woman. But to a dog…a stray dog.
The ceremony is said to have been lavish.

Mangli Munda is from a remote village in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand. After a local guru told the girl’s parents he believed the teen would lead a life of misfortune, which would bring even more destruction to the family and her community if she married a man, it was agreed that she would marry the canine.
“Sheru,” the baffled but cooperative stray dog – found by the girl’s father, was brought to the wedding in a chauffeur driven car and welcomed by revelers.
To us, he looked like he couldn’t care less as long as they fed him.
Mangli has never attended school. She admits she is not happy about marrying the dog, but insists it will help change her fortunes so that one day she can marry the man of her dreams.
‘I am marrying a dog because the village elders believe that my evil spell will be passed on to the dog.
‘After that is done, the man I will marry will have a long life.’
And as for the dog’s father-in-law, “The village elders told us that we should organize the wedding as soon as we can. We had to make sure that the evil spell is destroyed.”
Question: Do you think she’ll be offended if he tries to hump her leg? Just curious.
