*Although its nowhere near OK, we’re used to adults being horribly cruel to one another; but it’s hard to believe that children as young as 5-years-old can take on this ugly behavior too. Which makes the news that a child on the playground of Arlington Elementary School is alleged to have been kicked repeatedly and mercilessly by another student tough to swallow. Even harder, is the fact that the school does not believe this child, and claims her horrific facial bruises are the cause of a fall. To add insult to injury, the child’s mother will now have to prove that her child was assaulted, and that the bruises were no fault of her own.
Lacey Harris, the mother of kindergartener, AvaLynn, has requested a police investigation and has launched an online campaign called ‘Justice for AvaLynn’ on Facebook to show that her little girl was allegedly beaten severely in a vicious playground attack last week.
She posted the graphic photos on the social media site showing bruises around the child’s eyes and face and refutes the official explanation from Arlington Elementary School because she believes her child’s injuries are too severe to have been caused by a fall, as written in their statement.
Harris says her daughter AvaLynn was kicked until she fell off the slide in the playground during her first week at Arlington Elementary in Mississippi. But the Pascagoula School District claims no violence towards the girl took place and she merely fell to the ground while outside playing.
The ‘Justice for AvaLynn’ Facebook page gives Harris’ alleged account of how her daughter was left with such severe black eyes and swollen features.
‘AvaLynn told her mother that she was kicked repeatedly in the face until she fell off of the slide on the school’s playground. The school informed Lacey there were no teachers present when the incident occurred, and because of that, no one could prove whether or not another student had harmed Ava,’ the post reads.
WHY was there no teacher present while a group of kindergarteners played on a school playground?
‘The school basically claims that Ava injured herself, as all the photos depicting her injuries will debunk. The local PD claims that there has been no criminal act, which the injury photos also disprove.’
Because Harris has retained the services of a lawyer, she has been advised not to speak to the press.
