*Award-winning television/radio host and best-selling author Steve Harvey, hosted one of the hottest nights of entertainment at the 2014 Ford Neighborhood Awards on August 9th, bringing the 12th year of the awards show to Atlanta for the first time, before a packed crowd at Philips Arena.
Honoring businesses and community leaders, educators and more from across the nation, Harvey presented one of the biggest lineups of award-winning entertainment for the show, with performances from Robin Thicke, Ne-Yo, Anthony Hamilton, Chrisette Michele, Tamela Mann, India.Arie, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat, joined by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Sherri Shepherd, Shemar Moore, Tracee Ellis Ross, Keke Palmer, Erica Campbell, Kirk Franklin, Holly Robinson Peete, and more, taking the stage to present the 12 Neighborhood Awards categories.
Harvey said, “We designed this show for people in the community who don’t get recognition every day, to celebrate their work with a big round of applause. You will never laugh at an awards show like you’re going to laugh at this one; it’s about time we brought this show to Atlanta!”
In an unforgettable night, the 2014 Ford Neighborhood Awards was filled with dazzling moments and surprises, including Sheryl Underwood appearing in a wedding dress and a surprise performance from Keith Sweat, as well as a check presentation by Ford to Best Community Leader Award winner Stan Richards, of The Richards Group Foundation, and a first-time live Neighborhood Awards webcast hosted backstage by Ed Gordon and Candi Daniels.
Marking the show’s 12th anniversary, Steve Harvey and television/radio producer Rushion McDonald created the one-of-a kind Neighborhood Awards show (formerly the Hoodie Awards) and Weekend Expo, giving star treatment to celebrate everyday men and women who uplift their neighborhoods through their contributions and excellence as local businesses, religious/community leaders, educators, churches, and high schools. The 2014 Ford Neighborhood Awards show hosted by Steve Harvey was the centerpiece of one of the biggest blowouts in Atlanta, as part of a four-day 2014 Neighborhood Awards weekend at the Georgia World Congress Center and Philips Arena.
Running August 7th-10th, the weekend kicked off with the Stand-Up Comedy Jam hosted by Nephew Tommy, which featured three sold-out shows, the Steve Harvey Morning Show live broadcast sponsored by Coca-Cola, the sold-out Neighborhood Awards Freedom Friday Party, the sold-out Ford VIP After-Party, the 3-day State Farm 2014 Neighborhood Awards Weekend Expo, “Family Feud Live” presented by Ford, hosted by Steve Harvey, “Act Like a Success” with Steve Harvey sponsored by Morgan Stanley, financial and relationships seminars, film screenings, and much more. The 2014 Neighborhood Awards weekend included support from Ford, State Farm, JCPenney, Walmart, DHerbs, Masterbuilt, The Home Depot, UP TV, and Coca-Cola.
