Time and again audiences have come to hear stories about one celebrity’s brush with the IRS, or another celebrity’s breakup; but we don’t often hear about the challenges some of our most loved people of note go through  – some in silence, others out loud.

Yet they all continue to move forward in spite of it. Here are 8 such people.

Morgan Freeman

Did you know that “The voice of God” actor Morgan Freeman has fibromyalgia. He went public with his diagnosis in 2013. This means that sometimes he has “excruciating pain up and down the arm.” Fibromyalgia is a condition in which a person has chronic pain and tenderness in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other tissues. Lil Wayne

Did you know that Lil Wayne has Epilepsy? His seizures can occur  without any warning: “No warning, no nothing I don’t feel sick. I get headaches real bad. And the headaches? I didn’t get no headaches or nothing,” he told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway in May. “I go to sleep and wake up in the hospital. I don’t feel anything.”

Robin Roberts

Robin Roberts’ illness has probably been one of the most publicly played out. The GMA anchor was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a rare blood disorder once known as pre-leukemia. A breast cancer survivor, Roberts underwent a bone marrow transplant in 2012. But she continued to fight for her health in 2013, including a brief hospital stay in April.

Kim Khardasian

As hard as girlfriend may try, she ain’t perfect either. In 2011, doctors confirmed that the beautiful Kim Khardasian suffers from Psoriasis.

It may be hard to believe that the incredible Prince suffers from anything. But he does. The Purple One has suffered from seizures since he was was a child and in a 2009 interview on the PBS show Tavis Smiley, he revealed that he was born epileptic and that his “mother and father didn’t know what to do or how to handle it but they did the best they could with what little they had.”
