*Well, there is at least one big timer wasting no time telling the world who he would support as the new owner of The Clippers should the opportunity present itself.
NBA hall of famer Gary Payton tells “Extra” he would definitely support Oprah Winfrey, if she wants to own the team.
Payton spoke candidly about the Donald Sterling controversy with Extra’s special correspondent Charissa Thompson at Universal Studios Hollywood, making it clear that the decision to ban the LA Clippers owner from the NBA not only impacts basketball, but society as a well.
“It was great, it was beautiful, we got the culprit…If he owns a basketball team and now he’s got to talk about a race, we’re all equal, we all bleed inside, we all do the same thing, nobody’s color is different, we all are human and we should all be treated equal,” said Payton. “It is bigger than basketball because we still got a lot of people out here in this world that we need to change this,” the NBA legend continued.
Payton said if Donald Sterling was standing right in front of him, he would ignore him.
“I wouldn’t say nothing to him, cause I wouldn’t give him no more [of] my attention, that’s what we should do, we should leave him alone, don’t even bother with him anymore…The simple fact is we don’t need him in our lives,” he said.
Payton was clear about who the next owner of The Clippers should be.
He was also clear on why.
“It would be a good thing to have her face on the LA Clippers because she’ll be around, she’ll be in the house, a lot of people will want to come see that… It would be nothing but a plus for her…We need females everywhere.”
I, for one, agree. We do need females everywhere.
