*Apparently sick and tired of being sick and tired, police claim Andre Johnson, who performs under the name “Christ Bearer,” and has an affiliation with the groups Wu-Tang Clan and Northstar, attempted self-dismemberment early Wednesday morning at an apartment building in North Hollywood.
By the time cops arrived on the scene around 1 a.m., Johnson was lying on the sidewalk with critical injuries. They rushed the 40-year-old rapper by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to TMZ.
No details about what triggered the incident were available, according to CNN.
The video shows two men – its unclear if they are the Northstar members who live in the same apartment building – but according to Fox News they say Johnson cut off his penis and leaped without warning. By the time the men got downstairs Johnson was running around screaming.
The musicians told TMZ they hadn’t used “any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing.”
Johnson has collaborated with Wu-Tang Clan producer and leader RZA, but the band’s website is being careful to distance themselves from Johnson, using wording that seemingly denys any ties to him without blatantly using his name, according to .
The statement reads: “Parental Advisory: Don’t Believe The HYPE. This Mother F*cker Ain’t Got Sh*t to do with The WUTANG Brand.”
UPDATE: April 17 — The Wu-Tang Clan website has taken down its post, which had appeared to show another rapper known as Andre Roxx, who has been misidentified in some reports as Johnson. The Wu-Tang site now includes a post that accurately identifies Johnson, although it does not explicitly identify him as one of the band’s associates.
