*OK, let us stand still for a sec and try to wrap our collective brains around this fantastical lie: Patti LaBelle and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin duking it out in a fist fight
This is how it supposedly went down.
Both women were at the March 20 Women of Soul concert at, of all places, The White House. As Aretha was making her way to the stage, Patti LaBelle, along with others standing near the aisle seats, reached to grasp her hand in that kind of “I love you sister girl” way.
Apparently, Aretha wasn’t having it, and threw shade at Patti by pushing the hand out of the way in a “Girl stop frontin’ you know we don’t get down like that” kind of way.
Not a good idea as far as egos go.
Next thing we hear, the tabloids run wild with this claim:
“Onlookers say LaBelle quickly removed her wig and earrings as she approached Franklin. Aretha, knowing that the removal of earrings is a tell-tale sign that a fight is about to ensue, attempted to prepare herself for the confrontation. Franklin was quickly struck with a Mayweather style right and left and stumbled backwards, landing awkwardly. Bystanders subdued LaBelle and escorted her outside of the venue. Franklin suffered only minor injuries.”
Well, as rumor would have it: This story is completely bogus. At the bottom of their website, NewsNerd writes: “The stories posted on TheNewsNerd are for entertainment purposes only. The stories may mimic articles found in the headlines, but rest assured they are purely satirical.”
Some of their other headlines read: “Noah Screening Cancelled After Movie Theater Floods,” and “Leonardo DiCaprio Cast As MLK In New Film, Will Wear Blackface.”
Thanks to RumorFix.com for the lies used in this article to entertain you, if only for a moment.
