Excuse me, I just had to get that out.
In America, shows like Jerry Springer come to mind. His was the first to show us individuals, couples, families on TV with the intention of “working stuff out” only to show us how they could demonstrate what an absolute fool acts like.
Well let’s go across the pond, where we get to view a Lebanese television show dedicated to resolving family conflicts. The one aforementioned apparently, didn’t work out.
And that’s putting it mildly.
During a recent episode of the TV program “Bil Akeed,” (“For Sure”), a teenager grew increasingly upset with what his mother was saying and leaped onto the television studio table, ran across it to his estranged mother and kicked her in the head.
Al Arabiya reported that producers of the program had tried to bring this mother and her 15-year-old son, Ahmed, together after a seven year absence from one another.
Ahmed initially did not want to meet his estranged mother but relented after producers of the show convinced him otherwise.
According to Al Arabiya’s report on the incident, Ahmed blamed his mother for separating from his father whom she accused of being physically abusive.
The mother, whose name was not reported by Al Arabiya, told her son about the divorce proceedings.
“In the court he [Ahmed’s father] attacked me in front the judges and the sheikhs,” she said.
This apparently made Ahmed even angrier. When he tried to defend his father’s behavior, the mother responded by saying he sounded like a “drunk” teenager, Al Arabiya reported.
Apparently, this sent her son over the edge. He leaped up on the table, and although crew rushed in to subdue him, he succeeded in getting at least one kick in as he aimed for his mother’s head.
Did she back down and whimper? Heck no! Seemingly unhurt, she was ready to show him what she was working with.
Al Arabiya did not say when the show on Lebanon’s Future Television network was broadcast, but the clip directly below was posted on YouTube on Wednesday.
