*Who knew the makers of Teddy Grahams could be so…so, ah heck, you fill in the blank.
But the marketing department of Honey Maid has shown that they have been paying attention to the different looks of “family” over the years and their new Honey Maid ad campaign proves it.
Named “This is Wholesome” the campaign celebrates real families from different backgrounds. The 30-second TV ad features a single dad, parents of different races, and LGBT parents who are seen enjoying family time together.
“No matter how things change, what makes us wholesome never will,” the commercial opens.
According to AdWeek, a statement by Honey Maid marketing director Gary Osifchin reads,
“We recognize change is happening every day, from the way in which a family looks today to how a family interacts to the way it is portrayed in media.”
Honey Maid joins companies such as Cheerios and Coca-Cola in developing ad campaigns that feature the diverse family makeup.
You may recall the backlash the Cheerios commercial starring a biracial girl and her white mother and black father generated; and the Coca-Cola ad from this year’s Super Bowl that did not spark unity when “America the Beautiful” was sung in languages other than English.
