Artists stand with Stevie Wonder in boycotting Florida until Stand Your Ground Law is abolished.

George Zimmerman is not the only criminal in Florida.  The state’s government is having their feet held to the fire for the way they’ve chosen to translate the Stand Your Ground law into the acquittal of Zimmerman and false imprisonment of Marissa Alexander.

The EURweb reported that Mary Mary have joined with Stevie Wonder to boycott Florida until they abolish the law. And the call to action has been heard and more of music’s heavyweights are answering the call and cancelling their concerts and standing with the socially conscious, legendary balladeer, according to veteran White House correspondent April D. Ryan of the White House Report.

She has provided an impressive list of the biggest names in the business that have cancelled and have agreed to cancel their concerts:

  • Rod Stewart
  • Madonna
  • Usher
  • Kanye West
  • Mary J
  • Trey Songz
  • Jay Z
  • Rolling Stones
  • Justin Timberlake
  • R. Kelly
  • Rihanna
  • Alicia Keys
  • Erykah Badu
  • Wale

There are many more on the list.  The Huffington Post reported this update:

“A local news outlet in Florida cites “an executive affiliated with the ‘Legends of the Summer’ tour” who says the Justin Timberlake and Jay Z concert planned for August 16 at Sun Life stadium will go on. As stated earlier, HuffPost has reached out to Timberlake and Jay Z’s reps for comment on the reported boycott.”

These entertainers were only rumored to join the boycott as names began to circulate on Facebook and other social media sites, but now we have official confirmation.  The ideas we have were heard and now they are a reality.  Imagine how many other ideas we can make reality with a little action behind our words.  If they cancel this concert in Miami, I will personally, purchase their next 10 albums.
