We are becoming an increasingly more violent nation as our society exhibits a desensitized disposition to their fellow man. But in an ironic twist to the apathetic behavior, tempers rise quickly and much more deadlier than ever before with little to no reason to spark the fury.
Barry White Jr.–no relation to the late great r&b legend–was charged with first degree murder, among other charges, for the double homicide he allegedly committed in a Victoga jewelry store in the GiftCenter & JewelryMart complex on Brannan Street in San Francisco last Friday. According to the report from ABC News, White had a dispute with a store employee over the charge for jewelry he had purchased from them weeks before and wanted a price adjustment of nearly $300. Obviously, they denied his request and he left and returned with knives and guns and the entire ordeal was caught on three of the store’s surveillance videos.
“They’re being shot. They’re being stabbed. He comes out and there’s another woman in front of the store and by the time the gun is empty, and he tries to shoot and the guns empty, he dumps the gun and then he proceeds to knife her,” District Attorney George Gascon said.
Two women that were employed at Victoga were killed and the owner was hospitalized. But the rest of the story is a little suspect. The police reported that when White exited the store, he shot at them. That’s pretty hard to believe seeing as how White is alive to tell his side of the story. Normally, he would’ve been shot and killed, right? And they would’ve been right in doing so. The District Attorney mentions in his report that White emptied his gun and started stabbing the people, so what did he shoot at them with? Oh well, that’s neither here nor there, right?
White’s cheese obviously slid completely off the cracker before he came into contact with police, who also claim they seized an AK-47 assault rifle from his car. The jewelry he was trying to exchange must have been the ring “to rule them all.” But Frodo didn’t go this far to protect it.
