Every year people celebrate in a foolish way the “running of the bulls” in Spain. But, somehow, they never seem to get the memo on staying out of the bulls’s way.
A 23-year-old woman, only identified as J.E., was gored by a bull in her back and is in “very grave” condition even after receiving surgery at Navarra Hospital for the stab wound and impact that fractured multiple ribs and caused severe damage to her right lung.
The annual San Fermin festival in Spain normally includes men running from the bulls and not women. It is a rare occurrence when women are injured during the running of the bulls. The young Australian woman was struck by a huge Miura bull “as she clung to wooden barriers outside the bullring entrance, said regional health authority spokesman Javier Sesma.”
