President Obama is known to rub shoulders with some of hip hop’s royalty, so it is only understandable that he would know a good rapper when he hears one and possibly provide tips and suggestions.
According to the New York Daily News, the president was visiting the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation Youth Centre in Cape Town, South Africa, Sunday, when he encountered 15-year-old Aviwe Mtongana, who performed a freestyle for President Obama to show off what he had been learning about rapping and writing lyrics.
As he met him in the computer lab of the center, Obama told Mtongana:
“You gotta get up. You gotta loosen up.”
And after that, he broke loose with his music producer nearby, who helps him with his “rhythm and beats.” Bishop Desmond Tutu also looked on as the president told the teen his music was “fantastic” and “outstanding,” but advised him that he has to end his performance “You gotta drop the mic first.”
Check it out. Nice!
