There is obviously bigger fish to fry as legislators and Americans are giving less and less attention to the legalization of marijuana.
A lot of states have forged through the federal muck to allow their citizens the right to smoke marijuana freely without worry of arrest. Marijuana legalization is being thought of in the same vein as alcohol and cigarette use as lawmakers find themselves in a difficult quandary over the issue. Prohibition was worn down by the futile attempts of the government to make consumption illegal as the country continued to buy alcohol at a neighborhood “speakeasy” or “blind pig” and it appears that is what is happening now.
Marijuana stores are sprouting up all over the place for those with medical use cards. Not even the adverse side effects of the drug has made an impact among users. According to Epoch Times:
It is a moment in America that is rife with contradictions:
—People are looking more kindly on marijuana even as science reveals more about the drug’s potential dangers, particularly for young people.
—States are giving the green light to the drug in direct defiance of a federal prohibition on its use.
—Exploration of the potential medical benefit is limited by high federal hurdles to research.
If you’re using the stuff, no wonder you feel no pain and want everyone just to get along with legalizing the drug. They’re smoking it anyway! Lenience is afoot and we may soon watch members of our society smoke a J outside the restaurant and place of employment with the cigarette smokers.
How do you feel on the issue of legalization? Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed to raise your hand if you’re for it. You will simply join the ranks of the other 52 percent of adults that are in favor of legalizing marijuana. According to the Huffington Post, “more teenagers now say they smoke marijuana than ordinary cigarettes.”
