The abortion debate has been going on for over 50 years and we have YET to see an argument against it, so ludicrous!
During a late-night House Rules Committee hearing on Monday, on a Republican bill “The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” that would ban abortions starting at 20 weeks after conception with no exceptions for rape or incest, GOP Congressman Michael Burgess (R-Tex.), claimed abortions should be banned as early as 15 weeks because he’s seen male fetuses masturbate that early, according to the Huffington Post report from RH Reality Check. WHAT?!
Now maybe Burgess was under the influence or sleepy, but he stands by his assertion that the male fetuses put their “hands between their legs” at 15 weeks and pleasure themselves.
“Watch a sonogram of a 15-week baby, and they have movements that are purposeful,” Burgess continued. “They stroke their face. If they’re a male baby, they may have their hand between their legs. If they feel pleasure, why is it so hard to think that they could feel pain?”
According to Burgess, he has license to say these things and can validate them because he used to be an OB/GYN. He isn’t the only backward Republican, Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), the bill’s author, opposed an exception for rape victims because his claim is that “the incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low.” But luckily, some members, no one knows who specifically, of the House Rules Committee later added exceptions to the bill for rape and incest victims and the extreme anti-abortion rule passed in the House 228-196 on Tuesday.
