Ever heard of fried Kool-Aid? What about fried Oreo cookies? Well, the creator of those unusual items has come up with an even more unusual sandwich.
Krispy Kreme and Chicken Charlie’s got together and came up with the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe. Charlie Boghosian is the owner of Chicken Charlie’s and has been creating the unusual, but popular, fare for county fairs in Southern California for 17 years, according to Yahoo! Shine. Boghosian somehow dreamed up the other items (that most thought would be a disaster), but this time his wife’s sloppy joe’s were his muse.
“I’ve eaten so much sloppy joe the traditional way,” he said. “I thought, ‘We’ve got to change it up.’ “
He even tantalizes us with the description of the taste of his own creation that he perfected with his wife.
“I took that first bite, and I swear to you… my brains stopped, I couldn’t even think,” he told Yahoo! Shine. “Then I realized, the sweet and salty was unbelievable. Then I kept on eating and eating… I couldn’t put it down. I got addicted. It was so darn good.”
Boghosian has come to be known as “California’s Deep Fry King.” The other items he’s thought of are:
Deep-fried bacon-wrapped pickles, cookie dough bites, and waffle dogs (think corn dogs, but with waffles). Chicken Charlie’s also has another Krispy Kreme sandwich on their menu which is a customer favorite. It’s a chicken breast drizzled with honey and layered between two glazed doughnuts.
Read the full report here. Don’t get too excited about it though. Krispy Kreme won’t be serving this at their restaurants. And those of you who live near a Chicken Charlie’s…think about it! There isn’t even any nutritional data assessed for this thing yet! Yikes!
