Everyone was eager to put their numbers in the pot for the largest Powerball jackpot in history, May 18. But, it doesn’t seem that everyone was eager to win even though they played.
There is one person in Zephyrhills, Florida, that purchased the ticket that won the jackpot of $590 million, yet they have not come forward to claim their winnings. We’ve tried to think of every scenario that may have prevented them from picking it up: they died, they haven’t checked their ticket, they don’t need the money, they have warrants, they may have relatives that would wack them for the ticket! Who knows! Really…who knows?
Florida is a state where the winner cannot remain anonymous, so if they are interested in being filthy rich, they will have to come forward within 60 days or they forfeit their win. But, what does the state do with all of that money if the person doesn’t claim the top prize? This is a serious tax windfall for the state if they don’t come forward. Let’s hope the schools get it, right? Fat chance!
But folks in Zephyrhills are already suspecting who the winner is because the town only has 13,000 residents. Surely, folks have already started getting their yellow pages out and calling everyone they THINK was at that Pubix where the ticket was purchased. According to the Huffington Post report, there were rumors that one of the supermarket’s employees was the winner because they didn’t show up to work the next day.
