Celebrities are trying to do better with reaching back to the community and using their resources to make a difference.
Tyler Perry is one of the most well known celebrities in the world who was moved by a story out of south-western Columbus, Ohio, that led him to donate $100,000 to their schools. Finland Middle School was a part of a TV report where teacher Mary Mulvany started a foundation to raise scholarship money to cover fees for student athletes after all their athletics and extra-curricular activities were eliminated.
But later they agreed to reinstate the programs, but for a fee. The filmmaker popped in on middle school students with his donation to their school during a musical concert. According to Huffington Post:
“Perry says he wants to sponsor as many children as possible and wants part of the money to go toward Finland and some to the foundation.”
