Protesters Fight Against GMO Seed Manufacturer ‘Monsanto’ in 436 Cities

Scientists have unleashed their Frankenstein-like invention into the mainstream of our lives without our consent …or our awareness.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) have taken over our food source and we have yet to blink an eye…until now! Protesters all over the world took to the streets to bring down the GMO seed manufacturer, Monsanto, which produces seeds that grow genetically modified foods.  According to the Huffington Post:

“Most corn, soybean and cotton crops grown in the United States today have been genetically modified. But critics say genetically modified organisms can lead to serious health conditions and harm the environment.”

Protesters in 436 cities and 52 countries rallied together to stop the manufacturing of these seeds that could possibly change the genetic make-up of our bodies as our children ingest these foods from the beginning of their lives without having natural foods.

The demonstrators signs read:

“Real Food 4 Real People” and “Label GMOs, It’s Our Right to Know.”

The Monsanto Company is based in St. Louis, Missouri, and they are not planning to stop production anytime soon as they are adamantly convinced that their product helps us more than harms us.  They claim that the seeds “improve agriculture by helping farmers produce more from their land while conserving resources such as water and energy.”

The founder and organizer Tami Canal started her ‘March Against Monsanto’ movement when she created a Facebook page Feb. 28, to gather supporters against the company’s practices.

“If I had gotten 3,000 people to join me, I would have considered that a success,” she said Saturday. Instead, she said an “incredible” number of people responded to her message and turned out to rally.

Buenos Aires and other cities in Argentina, are vested in the struggle as they have seen nearly all of their soy and grains genetically modified. They carried signs saying “Monsanto-Get out of Latin America”.
