Just two weeks ago, we reported on the corruption in Orleans Parish Prison in New Orleans, but it appears that they have competition…strong competition in Baltimore.
The corruption case that has been exposed in Baltimore’s Detention Center on Eager Street showed that the inmates have been running the prison and not officials. The Black Guerilla Family leader Tavon White is accused of attempted murder and was being held there for his trial which begins today, according to Baltimore’s ABC2 News. But, once it was found that White had fathered children with four of the correction officers, sold drugs in the jail, gave the women cars in return for their loyalty to him and a slew of other offenses, he was transferred.
The FBI posted these details of the case on their site:
“A federal grand jury returned a racketeering indictment charging 25 individuals, including 13 correctional officers with the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, for conspiring to run operations of the Black Guerilla Family (BGF) gang inside correctional facilities. All 25 defendants also are charged with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute drugs, and 20 of the defendants are charged with money laundering conspiracy.”
Wow! They got caught! Is the first reaction one might have because surely most are aware that this has been a problem in the prisons throughout the country for a very long time. But these guys seemed to get a little too cocky and bragged a little too much to the breaking point of MAKING BABY MAMAS out of their guards. White really began to believe he was the warden of the facility. He was caught saying on the phone:
This is the first indicator that this guy was on his way down! But, the other ludicrous conversation that was intercepted went like this:
And she’s the correction officer! Are you serious, people? Jails are truly for the ignorant because they are completely clueless. Another correction officer Kimberly Dennis, was also caught on the phone saying she had a “goal” of $2,000 for the week and she didn’t know how she was going to get it, but she was “going to make it happen.”
The crime ridden prison does not require guards to remove their shoes when entering the prison and after this report, they still do not require it and the officers have only been suspended without pay…not fired on the spot. By a show of hands, how many think this case and the one out of New Orleans will curtail the crime in the U.S. prison system? But with all the people being indicted have done, they are not the real thugs. Can you guess who they really are?
