There are very strange weather patterns going on throughout the country this spring. The rain and snow that has descended upon the Midwest is causing some serious damage.
On Chicago’s Southeast side, three cars were swallowed by a sinkhole this morning. The street where the sinkhole occurred is in a normal residential neighborhood at 96th and Houston. One man was already inside his car possibly preparing to go to work when he and his car descended into the massive hole. So far, there has been 5 inches of rainwater in the city just this morning and many schools have been closed due to flooding, according to Headline News. Other residents are dealing with flooded basements this morning.
One woman was leaving for work when she saw her car swallowed by the sinkhole. She called police, but said they didn’t arrive for three hours. Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene and was able to rescue the man in his car and send him to the hospital. Firefighters warned her to stay away from her car because the ground was unstable. She was going to attempt to move her car before it could be swallowed in the hole. But, just as they told her to stay back, the car went in.
Watch as her car goes in.
