Young and the Restless Star ‘Mrs. Chancellor’ in Critical Condition

The Young and the Restless is one of the longest running soap operas on television and is celebrating 40 years this year.  Some of the cast members have been on the show from nearly the very beginning.

But now Jeanne Cooper, who has played the beloved Mrs. Chancellor on the show for the last 36 years was hospitalized and admitted to Intensive Care Unit Tuesday in critical condition.  The cause of her hospitalization is not known, but Zap2It’s Daytime Confidential reported that she is battling a “dangerous infection.”

Cooper’s son, “Psych” actor also known for the suave, quick-witted attorney role on the popular 80′s series L.A. Law Corbin Bernsen, has been posting messages to his Twitter page thanking everyone for their prayers and support and giving his mother’s status of “progressing.”  Many of her fans and followers have also taken to Twitter in support of her.

She may have been ailing for some time as the storyline on the Y&R has her struggling with the beginning of Alzheimer’s.   We wish her the best.

  1. Story line does not have her “struggling with Alzheimer’s,” but with a brain tumor. Either way, prayers are extended to her and her family in real life.
